The first residential high rise to go up in Charlotte made quite a bold statement back in 2002. The coppery pink hue of The Arlington’s glass mesmerized passersby along the South Boulevard corridor.

Since then, however, the landmark “big pink building,” located on the edge of Southend and Dilworth, is a symbol of luxury living outside Center City. In fact, The Arlington is the only high rise in Charlotte outside the beltway.

Residences on the northeast side of The Arlington have some of the best skyline views of the full Uptown area and Bank of America Stadium, as the building sits just outside I-277 along South Boulevard.

In case you are wondering about seeing the world through rose-colored glasses, the pink hue of The Arlington’s glass does not distort the view from the inside looking out.

The Arlington is ideally situated to take advantage of dining, shopping and entertainment in South End or Uptown with a Lnyx station adjacent to the building. If you want to stick closer to home, Phat Burrito, Wooden Robot Brewery and Amos’ South End are all within walking distance. Nikko Japanese Restaurant, a popular night spot, is located on the ground level of The Arlington.

The Arlington has a full fitness center and a rooftop pool, but the Dowd YMCA is just a block away along Morehead Street if you prefer.

Additional building amenities include full-time concierge and security, rooftop social deck and a dog park.

The 24-story building was completed in 2003 and has 115 residential units in all. Condominiums range in size from 500 square feet to 4,700 square feet and have floor-to-ceiling glass windows.

Only 2 residences have sold during the last 12 months – one for $233,000 and one for $410,000 for an average of $308,600 or $294 per square foot.

Currently, there are 3 units for sale in The Arlington. Two of the residences are under contract as of April 14.

Luxury amenities abound in Charlotte’s newest apartment buildings

Rent is on the rise all over Charlotte, with nearly a 7% increase from where it was just a year ago. Many new construction projects that are in the works are trying to keep up with demand, which is good news for those who are looking to rent. Plus, all of these new apartment communities have really stepped up their game in terms of high end, luxury and sometimes outrageous amenities in order to compete for market share.
Desirable amenities are all over town and include such perks as an event stylist, like at 5115 Park Place. Legacy 521 features an indoor basketball court, while Horizons at Steele Creek features its own movie theater. Other amenities at buildings across the city include poolside drink service, a rooftop garden and cocktail terrace, valet dry cleaning and laundry, a virtual gaming lounge, a wine display and tasting area, a penthouse lounge with an observation deck and fire pits, and so much more.

Pools, fitness centers, and sundecks are fairly standard amenities. But now, instead of just a basic workout room, you can find full gyms that include yoga, Pilates and cross training, like at the SkyHouse luxury high-rise in Uptown. Or, check out the barre, yoga, and spin room or outdoor yoga terrace and Fitness on Demand at Berkshire Dilworth. Solis Southline boasts a rock climbing wall, and the junior Olympic pool at The Vue and the heated saltwater rooftop pool at Ascent in Uptown are anything but standard.

At Encore South Park, you will find massage, sauna and steam rooms, as well as an on-site concierge, plus there is an Alexa in every unit. For dog lovers, The Mint features a special pet elevator with access to the dog park, and SkyHouse features its own dog park, as well, along with a putting green, tennis and bocce ball courts and a huge activity field.
